An Afternoon with Jane Austen {4pm sold out}
SUNDAY, AUGUST 5 | 4:00pm
TAFT MUSEUM OF ART {DOWNTOWN}
316 Pike St, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
Jane Austen once said, “Without music, life would be a blank to me.” Join us for an afternoon celebrating the famous author and her beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen herself – performed by Barbara Britton Wenner – will partner with CCO principal second violinist Manami White to guide the audience through the concert event. Enjoy some of Jane’s favorite composers including Pleyel, Gluck and Handel, popular music of the age, and music from both the movie and miniseries production of Pride and Prejudice. Special guest cellist Coleman Itzkoff will be featured on Haydn’s Divertimento in D Major for Solo Cello and Strings.
Tour: Before the performance, visit the Taft’s permanent collection for a self-guided tour of portraits from Jane Austen’s point of view. The guide will be available for pick-up the day of the concert at the Taft check-in desk.
