Chamber Orchestra Shines Under Preu

The competition has been heating up in the search for the new music director of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. On Thursday, the final concert of the “Summermusik” season, Eckart Preu, the fifth candidate (and fourth heard this season), added a new wrinkle to the mix.

The month-long festival has been a crescendo of inventive programs and fine performances under each candidate. Audiences have increased each week. And just when you thought the orchestra couldn’t play much better, Preu elevated the performance level to new heights.

The best part was that he did it all while having fun.
