Keith Lockhart
Keith Lockhart currently serves as the Conductor of the Boston Pops, Artistic Advisor and Principal Conductor of the Brevard Music Center summer institute and festival, and Music Director Emeritus of the Utah Symphony. His leadership of the Utah Symphony from 1998-2009 allowed him to stand at the front of that organization’s historical merger with the Utah Opera to create the first-ever joint administrative arts entity of the Utah Symphony and Opera. Celebrating his 15th season as conductor of the Boston Pops, he has conducted more than 1200 concerts with the orchestra round the world, and introduced the innovated JazzFest and EdgeFest series.
Keith Lockhart served as Music Director of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra for seven years, completing his tenure in 1999. During his leadership, the Orchestra doubled its number of performances, released two compact-disc recordings, and developed a reputation for innovative and accessible programming. Mr. Lockhart also served as Associate Conductor of both the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops from 1990 to 1995.
Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, Mr. Lockhart began his musical studies on piano at the age of 7, and holds degrees from Furman University and Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds honorary doctorates from the Boston Conservatory, Boston University, Northeastern University, Furman University, and Carnegie Mellon University, among others.

CincinnatiChamber Orchestra musical memories
Under the direction of Keith Lockhart (who has since become famous as the third conductor of the Boston Pops), the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra makes a strong case to become as well-known as other symphony orchestras around the world. Their performance on this disc is incredible - and from what I could see on the Internet, this could be one of the first recordings released by this group.” Christopher Thelen, reviewing “New Energy For The Americas”, in 1997.
"My heart's very full," said conductor Keith Lockhart, as he faced the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra's capacity crowd Sunday afternoon in Memorial Hall, his first visit back to the Queen City since 1999. Though he's found fame with the Boston Pops, it was clear, both from his affectionate conducting of his former orchestra and the way he held his hands over his heart several times, that Mr. Lockhart relished being back. "It almost feels as if aliens snatched me away four years ago and brought me back on this stage," he quipped. For the musicians, the feeling seemed to be mutual, for they played their hearts out. Mr. Lockhart brought a strikingly imaginative program - a signature when he was music director 1992-99 - of Faure, Haydn, William Bolcom and Ravel. It all worked beautifully together. Janelle Gelfand, Cincinnati Enquirer, 1/27/03
